Transparent, straightforward billing
At Shanti Mental Health Center, we believe that understanding the cost of care should never be a source of stress. This page explains how our billing works, what your financial responsibilities are, and what to expect at every step — whether you're using insurance or paying out of pocket.
If you have any questions that aren't answered here, please don't hesitate to call our office or send a message through the patient portal. We're happy to walk through the details with you before your first appointment.
Choosing your billing method
We accept both insurance and self-pay (cash pay) patients. At the time of scheduling, you'll be asked to select the billing method you'd like to use. Once selected, that method stays in place unless you notify us of a change in writing.
Insurance billing
Your copay is collected at each visit. Our billing team submits a claim to your insurer on your behalf. Any balance after insurance pays is your responsibility.
Self-pay (cash pay)
Full session fee due at time of appointment. No claim is submitted. Superbills available on request for out-of-network reimbursement.
Self-pay patients may request a superbill — an itemized receipt with diagnosis and billing codes — after any appointment to submit to their insurer independently. We cannot guarantee insurance reimbursement for self-pay services.
Our fee schedule
The following rates apply to self-pay patients. All fees are due in full at the time of your appointment and will be charged to the credit card on file.
| Service | Duration | Self-Pay Fee | Insurance |
|---|---|---|---|
| Adult Psychiatric Evaluation | 60 min | $300 | Copay due at visit |
| Pediatric Psychiatric Evaluation | 60 min | $300 | Copay due at visit |
| Individual Psychotherapy | 45 min | $225 | Copay due at visit |
| Medication Follow-Up (Adult or Pediatric) | 30 min | $150 | Copay due at visit |
Fees are subject to change. You will be notified of any rate changes before they take effect.
Using your insurance
Here's what you can expect at each step of the insurance billing process:
Verify your benefits before your first visit
It is your responsibility to confirm that Shanti Mental Health Center and your provider are in-network with your plan. Our office is happy to assist, but we cannot guarantee coverage or benefit amounts.
Your copay is due at each appointment
Your copay, coinsurance, or applicable deductible amount will be collected at check-in and charged to the credit card on file.
We submit your claim
After your appointment, our billing team submits a claim to your insurance company on your behalf.
You may receive a balance statement
After your insurer processes the claim, you may owe an additional amount. We'll send a statement, and the balance will be due within 30 days.
If your insurance plan changes — including new coverage, termination, or a change in plan type — please let us know right away. Failure to notify us may result in the full session fee being charged to you directly.
Insurers we currently accept
We are currently in-network with the following insurance plans:
We are actively in the credentialing process with additional insurance plans. Please check back as our network continues to grow — or contact our office if you have a specific plan you'd like to inquire about.
Credit card on file
All patients — regardless of billing method — are required to have a valid credit card on file at the time of scheduling. This card is stored securely through our HIPAA-compliant payment processor and is used only for:
Your copay or self-pay fee at each appointment, any outstanding balance remaining after your insurance pays, and applicable late cancellation or no-show fees.
You'll receive a receipt for every charge. You can update your card at any time through the OnPatient patient portal at onpatient.com or by calling our office.
Cancellation & no-show policy
When you schedule an appointment, that time is reserved specifically for you. Late cancellations and missed appointments make it difficult for us to offer that slot to other patients who may be waiting for care.
Please cancel at least 24 hours in advance
Cancellations made less than 24 hours before your scheduled time, and appointments missed without notice, will be charged as follows:
No-show fees apply to all patients regardless of billing method and are not billable to insurance. The fee will be charged automatically to the card on file.
How to cancel
Call us at (262) 393-3320 — if calling outside business hours, please leave a voicemail. You can also cancel through the OnPatient patient portal at onpatient.com.
We understand that emergencies happen. If an unavoidable circumstance prevents you from attending, please contact us as soon as possible and we will review the situation on a case-by-case basis.
Patients who miss or cancel late on two or more occasions within a 12-month period may be transitioned out of the practice with 30 days' written notice and referrals provided for continued care.
